Ketil Bjørnstad, David Darling
Both members of the "Sea Quartet", the duo was formed to isolate and grow some characteristics found in the quartet's improvisation. Sharing a common background from classical music and a feeling for "adagio" music, they are now exploring the pure tone of the cello together with Ketil Bjørnstad's simplistic piano. They have both cooperated with jazz improvisers for many years, but always on their own terms developing and establishing their specific style. This style is a mix between contemporary improvisation, classical music, late romantic and early 20th century music. David Darling (born 1941 in Indiana) began as elementary and secondary school teacher and conducting band and orchestra while specialising in cello and bass. He has been working with artists like Paul Winter Consort, Jan Garbarek, Steve Kuhn, Colin Walcott, Arild Andersen, Oscar-Castro Neves, Terje Rypdal, Bobby McFerrin, Dino Saluzzi, Kenny Wheeler and many more. Ketil Bjørnstad (born 1952 in Oslo), a multi-talent that began his career as classically trained pianist but soon began to explore improvisational music. He has worked with artists like Arild Andersen, Jon Christensen, Terje Rypdal and many more and is also well known writer. Musicians
