Grace

"Grace" is ment to be a hopeful celebration to the future’s music and at the same time a "thank you" to the music that’s already been written and produced. As a result it has ended up as an invitation for performers from widely different musical environments.

The lyrics are based on the poetry of the founder of the School of Methaphysics in English Poetry, John Donne (1572-1631), known for a.o. his love poems, "Holy Sonnets" and preaches. The lyrics are mostly about the eternal topics – life, death and, not least, love.

On "Grace" Bjørnstad collaborates with Anneli Drecker from Bel Canto (vocals), Arild Andersen (bass), Jan Bang (sound sculpturing),Trilok Gurtu (percussion), Bendik Hofseth (sax and vocals) and Eivind Aarset (guitar). Despite their totally different musical bases, Bjørnstad managed to create a homogenic unity of these individualists.

As Norwegian newspaper BA wrote in their review of the concert : "Exciting, surprising and beautiful! Performed to a standing ovation – fully deserved!"
